Sup' DA!

Just a small update...
I've recently been getting into graphic design. Both at my job and on my own. Things have been going pretty well so far. Learning a lot.
With that said, I've created a facebook page. Yeah, I know. I'm about 7 years behind. lol Anyway, it's a business page for my artin' and whatnot. So go like the page www.facebook.com/darkreignart Also, I have paypal now. You know, so I can get PAID from the commissions. YES! COMMISSIONS! It's all new to me but so far so good.

My wife and I were having a "discussion" about being in a zone artistically. I was trying to explain to her that when we, as artists, are in a zone, it is extremely hard to stop what we are doing before we are finished. I've been up till the wee hours of the morning working on a piece because it seemed like everything was flowing. Everything in my head was coming to life on paper/screen pretty much how I envisioned it, if not better! In the ZONE! My wife's view is that it's basically a choice to keep drawing or whatever, and that we can stop what we are doing, even if we are locked in (in the zone) and pick right back up later, like the next day. Her scenario is; You're working for a company. It's quitting time but you're "in the zone" working on piece. Do you go home or do you keep working, off the clock, to finish? I said I'd keep working. It's not that easy to just stop, unless it's an emergency (the dog on fire or something). She says that is just being undisciplined.

Does she have a point?

Do I have a point?

Am I just crazy?

What do you guys and gals think?

Does music affect/influence your art?
For me, at times, it does.
Music tends to evoke certain attitudes in me that I try to convey in my work. Let's say I'm drawing Jesus. I'll listen to some gospel music. I'll listen to some rock or rap (preferably Papa Roach or Mystikal) if I'm drawing action. If I'm drawing Wifey, I'll listen to "Crazy Bitch" by Buckcherry (don't worry, she loves the song). Or if I'm just trying to create something with no initial direction, I'll listen to jazz to get me focused and the creative juices flowing.
I don't always listen to music when I draw. But with a wife, 4 kids and a dog, my headphones are my friends!
(i go through about 2 or 3 in a year. headphones. not wife and kids lol)
So how about you guys and gals? Do any of you listen to music when you're doin you art thang? If so, what type of music do you listen to?
